キヤノンは LED硬化タイプでは初となるフラットベッドプリンタOcé Arizona 1300の最新シリーズを発売しました。富士フイルムはまた、これをベースに Acuity LED 40を発表しました。
Canon and Fujifilm launch mid-range flatbed
Canon has launched its latest series of flatbed printers, the Océ Arizona 1300, which are the first to use LED curing. Fujifilm has also announced its own rebadged version, the Acuity LED 40.
This Arizona GT 1380 uses LED curing, has a bed size of 1.25m x 2.5m and is fitted with eight colour channels.

This is hardly a surprising move, given that just about every other wide format vendor has now embraced LED curing for the obvious saving on energy and lamps. The fact that LEDs are ready to work almost immediately significantly improves productivity as there’s no waiting around for the lamps to warm up, and nor is there any need to compensate for the output fading during the life of the lamp as LEDs should last the life of the printer.

These new machines are aimed at mid-volume sign and display printers and should be able to produce up to 15,000 sqm per year. Both Canon and Fujifilm have quoted a maximum speed of 53 sqm/hr though you can expect significantly slower speeds at production print quality.

As with previous Arizonas, there are two different bed sizes: 1.25m x 2.5m, which Canon calls GT; or the larger XT models at 2.5m x 3.08m. There’s also a choice of four, six or eight colour channels to take CMYK plus light cyan and light magenta, as well as varnish and white ink. Naturally this new series also includes an option for printing to roll media.

Canon has also added a new Arizona Xpert software that’s said to automate the production of complex jobs, such as multi-layered and duplex applications. This stores the print-ready file for re-use.

Canon has also included the Océ Remote Service tool, which can be used to monitor ink consumption and print volumes so that service contracts can be tailored more closely to the volume of the work.

Fujifilm’s version, the LED 40, comes with a new LED-curable Uvijet KL ink. These inks are Greenguard Gold certified, so prints can be used safely in schools, hospitals or retail environments. Fujifilm estimates that the new printers use 30 percent of the power of the older Acuity Select 20 range that they will replace.

Mike Battersby, marketing manager for Fujifilm Graphic Systems, pointed out that Fujifilm already sells an LED curing roll-fed printer, saying: “We are delighted now to be bringing the benefits of LED curing technology to our flatbed range. Our customers are increasingly looking for more environmentally sustainable solutions, and to maximise efficiency and profitability. The Acuity LED 40 delivers all of this by combining the versatility and reliability of our existing Acuity flatbed range with the LED-curing capability already enjoyed by so many users of Fujifilm’s Acuity roll-fed machines. We look forward to talking to new and existing customers about the benefits this series could provide to their businesses.”
