Durst has launched a new UV inkjet single pass label press, the Tau 330 RSC E, which is specifically aimed at small and medium converters in the mid-tier market.
Durst has developed this Tau RSC E inkjet label press as a cost effective option to encourage customers to invest in this platform.

It’s basically a hobbled version of the existing Tau RSC, which allows customers to buy into the Tau platform at a reasonable cost and then upgrade it to the full spec if their work grows. Helmuth Munter, Segment Manager, Durst Label & Packaging Printing, said: “During the development of the Dust Tau 330 RSC E, a special focus was dedicated to the upgradeability and flexibility of the press.”

The main difference between the two is the speed, with the cheaper machine only capable of 52 linear mpm, while the RSC runs at 78mpm. Munter says that “52 linear metres is more than fast enough for the small & mid-tier market and it matches the speed of most competitive products”. The RSC E will require upgrades to both hardware and software to run at the higher speed.

As with the RSC machine, the basic configuration is for CMYK with an option to add white. However, both versions can be upgraded to eight colours with additional printheads. Both machines use the Fujifilm Samba printhead and so have 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution with variable drop sizes ranging from 2-6 picolitres.

These presses are available in a choice of 330mm and 244mm print widths. The new E version can be fitted with all the options from the existing machine, including the chill roller, variable data printing or the external jumbo winders.
