Sharp, which mainly makes office MFDs, has built two light production presses, which are mainly aimed at in-house corporate print rooms.
This Sharp MX 8090N is a light production printer capable of producing 80 A4 ppm.
Both the MX-7090N and MX-8090N are colour toner devices. They feature an A3 colour scanner that can scan up to 200ipm with a maximum resolution of 600x600dpi. Both will take 3100 sheets as standard with additional paper trays to hold up to 13,500 sheets. Both take paper up to SRA3, in weights from 55 to 300gsm

They appear to use the same imaging engine, capable of 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution, and offer duplexing as standard. This takes 90 seconds to warm up. The main difference between the two appears to be the speed, with the 7090N producing 70 A4 ppm and the 8090N running at 80 A4 ppm, regardless of colour or monochrome.

They come with an embedded print server but there’s an option to add an external Fiery print server, which allows operators to use the Fiery Command WorkStation directly from the printer’s ntegrated 15.4-inch touchscreen. There are also various finishing options, including a GBC punch, inserter and folding unit.

Ben Lake, Sharp’s senior product manager, said: “Print jobs can come in at short notice, or a brief might change at the last minute, but it doesn’t mean businesses are willing to compromise on quality. We’ve introduced improvements to our light production series which ensure the highest professional quality results every time, no matter how big or small the job, while helping businesses to save time, cut costs and reduce waste”.
