Inktec has added LED curing to its KX6 platform to create this entry level wide format flatbed printer.
It’s an entry-level machine with CMYK as standard and options for white, varnish and primer. It will take rigid media up to 2,440 x 1,220mm and 100mm thick and offers a production print speed of 28 sqm/h. It’s fitted with Konica Minolta printheads that produce a minimum drop size of 6pl with 1440 x 720 dpi resolution.

Joey Kim, managing director of InkTec Europe, says the new printer is designed to be competitive in both performance and price, adding: “The Jetrix KX6U-LED heralds the arrival of a new suite of LED printers where we are looking to offer a range of various sizes and formats. This is because we appreciate printers have different needs, varying budgets and practically assorted sized spaces where they want to fit a flatbed printer.”

It’s likely that Inktec will continue to introduce new LED versions of other models from its KX range, rather than expanding the LX series. It’s logistically easier to adapt the existing machine architecture rather than develop new platforms, which also helps to keep the cost of the printers down.

Inktec has also announced a new LED UV ink for Mimaki’s popular JFX200 flatbed, which is said to be up to 50 percent cheaper than using Mimaki’s own ink, and to cure faster while being less tacky but without compromising on the print quality. It’s supplied with chips that match Mimaki’s LH-100 or LUS-120 inks.

Both the new printer and ink will be officially launched at the Sign and Digital show the NEC, UK, in April. Inktec will also show off its existing LXi8 LED-UV, a 3.2m wide flatbed printer and new media from Natura, which Inktec Europe distributes.
