Nazdar releases alternative ink for HP Scitex
Nazdar Ink Technologies has launched a new 735 series UV ink for two wide format HP Scitex presses, the FB7500 and FB7600, both of which are large flatbed devices aimed at high volume users.

Josh Lutz, market segment manager for UV Digital at Nazdar, explains: “We’ve developed 735 Series as a cost-effective, alternative ink and have received excellent feedback from customers who allowed us to vigorously test our inks on their production equipment in the real world. Customer response has been that it is nearly impossible to spot the differences in ink performance between the OEM and Nazdar 735 Bridge Series.”

These inks are said to be suitable for working with the usual wide format substrates that these printers would normally be used with, including acrylics, fluted polypropylene, polystyrene, Dibond, foam boards, expanded PVC and rigid and flexible vinyls. Nazdar claims that they are suitable for outdoor use and can withstand the effects of UV degradation and colour fade. This ink is also said to offer good resistance to edge chipping on rigid substrates that require trimming and finishing with a high-speed knife or CNC cutter.

This ink is available in 5 litre containers in a number of colours, including cyan, magenta, yellow and black, plus light cyan, light magenta, white, light black and orange.

Nazdar states that its inks up to 30 percent cheaper than those supplied by the original equipment manufacturers, which can be a considerable saving given that these machines are designed to churn through a very high volume of work. Nazdar says that it will support the inks but users will obviously want to balance the ink savings against the cost of servicing the machine itself, and to check whether or not the use of non-OEM ink will affect any servicing contract and insurance.
