Landaは、金属箔形成技術をパートナーの Altana に売却し、残りの開発およびエンジニアリング業務をAltanaのActega Coatings & Sealants部門に移管します。 Altanaは2010年より Altana に勤めていたJan Franz Allerkamp氏をマネージングディレクターに指名し新会社Actega Metal Printを設立します。
Landa has sold its metallography technology to its partner Altana and will transfer the remaining development and engineering work to Altana’s Actega Coatings & Sealants division. Altana will set up a new company, Actega Metal Print, with Jan Franz Allerkamp, who has been with Altana since 2010, named Managing Director.
Gilad Torzi, Landa’s vice president of product strategy, says that Landa is simply putting all of its resources into developing its Nanography presses, which could be true.

But as a professional cynic journalist, it seems quite likely to me that Landa needed another cash injection and Altana stepped in again, having previously taken a large stake in Landa’s Nanography venture. Either way, it seems that the Metallography would take more effort to fully develop than Landa indicated at Drupa, so it probably makes sense to pass it to Altana, which has proven expertise in this area.
しかし、職業柄、皮肉屋のジャーナリストとしての見方ですが、Landaがまたもやキャッシュ注入を必要としており、Altana 以前にLandaのNanographyベンチャーに投資したことの再来で、また Altana がお金を出したということだろうと思われます。いずれにしても、メタログラフィー（■大野註：英辞郎では金属組織学という訳が出てきます。前回の drupa で Landa が見せた金属箔形成技術）は、前回Drupaで Landa がデモしましたが、実際に使い物になるのはまだまだ未熟なので、この分野の専門家であるAltanaに渡すのは妥当なところでしょう。
The Metallography approach adds foiling effects using metal flakes thus avoiding the level of waste normally associated with this process. It can be used with most conventional print technologies and was shown at last year’s Drupa fitted on a narrow web flexo press.
