MS Printing Solutions, which is part of the Dover Digital Printing portfolio, used the recent Itma show to launch its Mini Lario textile printer. MS says that the printer has been developed to fill a gap in the market between its LaRio and JPK-EVO printers in terms of speed and return on investment.

However, unlike the existing Lario, the Mini Lario is a scanning printer. It takes substrates from 1.8 to 3.2m, with up to eight colours. It uses Kyocera printheads with maximum resolution of 600 x 600 dpi and 16 greyscale levels with drop sizes ranging from 4 to 72pl. There are eight heads per colour, or 64 in total.

It can be configured with two sets of CMYK for a maximum speed of 18.2mpm, which translates into 1094 metres/hour for both fabric and paper. However, this drops to 935mph for fabric and 1045 mph for paper when used with eight colours. It was presented at the show with a new in-line fabric pre-treatment that should reduce set up times and allow it to print to uncoated materials. Naturally, MS claims that this will also reduce waste including water and energy usage. Paolo Milini, MS Printing Solutions’ president, commented: “Developing sustainable technologies is our responsibility towards future generations and is the milestone of our green strategy.”
