Colordyne is developing the second generation of its 3600 AQ hybrid module for label presses, which uses Memjet printheads, and has signed a deal on ink supply for its 3600 UV module.
Colordyne is working with Kao Collins to supply inks for its 3600 UV inkjet retrofit module

The original version of the 3600 AQ used Memjet’s VersaPass head but the second generation is designed around the much newer Memjet DuraLink head, which can make use of Memjet’s water-based pigment inks. The DuraLink heads are also said to last up to 10 times longer and offer print quality up to 1600 by 1585 dpi.

As with the current 3600 AQ, this will be sold as an integration kit that converters can retrofit to their existing machines or press vendors can incorporate into their offerings.

Andy Matter, president of Colordyne, says that the company designs solutions around its customer’s needs, adding: “Since 2011, our partnership with Memjet has enabled us to successfully deliver on that mission. The addition of this new technology builds on that success, giving us a water-based technology that is affordable, flexible and scalable. These features will enable the rapid development of customized printing solutions for our strategic partners around the globe.”

Colordyne estimates that the first installations will take place in the second half of next year and is currently looking for sub OEM partners and beta sites for the new module.

Separately, Colordyne has also announced a strategic partnership with ink manufacturer Kao Collins for its 3600 UV module. This UV unit is sold as a retrofit option to convert flexo presses to hybrid digital machines. It’s compatible with multiple CMYK and white UV inkjet ink sets manufactured by Kao Collins and can print high-quality images at up to 600 by 600 dpi. The engine runs at speeds up to 75mpm.
