The Italian company Rigoli, based in Milan, has developed a new roll-to-roll single-pass inkjet printer, the MVZ 1000, which uses Memjet printheads and prints to flexible packaging.
Rigoli has developed a roll-fed printer aimed at the flexible packaging market, using Memjet printheads.
The main selling point appears to be that it’s relatively cheap for an inkjet packaging press, thanks to the use of the Memjet thermal heads. It appears to be using Memjet’s original Versapass printhead, rather than the newer Duralink technology. This head produces 1600×1600 dpi resolution at 9mpm, or 1600×800 dpi at 18 mpm. It uses Memjet’s standard drop size of 1.2pl. The head has five channels – CMYKK and the printer appears to be using Memjet’s own water-based dye inks.

It prints to inkjet coated substrates, including plain (CAD), matt, glossy, satin, backlit, self -adhesive, PE, PP and blueback media. It can support media up to 1,067 mm wide, which is the standard width for printers using Memjet heads and is achieved by stitching five heads together. It will take rolls up to 1,000m in length.

It can be used inline with a packaging line, with a buffering system to synchronise the speed of the press. It can also be used inline with finishing equipment, including cutting, and laminating systems as well as packaging and filling equipment.
